About Mr. Montanaro
Hello, my name is Mr. Montanaro and I am a proud alumnus of the Northern Cambria Class of 1986. I live in the district with my wife and daughters.
I have worked at Northern Cambria School District since June of 1994, when I was hired as the school's Band Director. In the following years, I began to teach several Computer Classes as well as my Band duties. In 2010, I was transferred to the Business/Computer Department. During my time at Northern Cambria, I have been the High School Dean of Students, the Cyberschool Coordinator, the Athletic Director, a Teacher Mentor, an Instructional Technology Coach, the adviser for Prom Promise, Senior Class Advisor, Student Council, Senior Class, Yearbook and multiple after school musical groups. Additionally, I have been a Volunteer Track Coach, Assistant Track Coach and the Head Boys Track Coach. I have also served as an Assistant to the past two Technology Coordinators. Additionally, I have served on the Discipline Committee, Safety Committee, Mentor Committee and the Technology Committee.
My current teaching schedule includes the following classes: Band, Video Game Design, Freshman Seminar, Multimedia, Microcomputers, and Introduction to Business. Additionally, I have various other assigned duties throughout the work week. Previously my courses have included: Microsoft Office Applications, Music Theory, Music Appreciation, Instrumental Lessons, Computer Programming, Yearbook, Desktop Publishing, Introduction to Windows, Chorus, Web Development and Computer Technology. While working with the Technology Coordinators, our projects included: pulling network wire, setting up workstations, installing software, defining permissions, hardware repairs, and troubleshooting network connectivity issues. As an instructional Technology Coach I worked with my peers to help them integrate technologies into their classrooms as well as facilitated training for them as well.
The Band World is my true calling/passion. Being blessed to have held this position and produce championship Marching Bands and beautiful sounding Concert Bands for so many years will always be a highlight of my career. Additionally, the small ensembles and jazz bands provided a great learning vehicle and community service throughout the calendar year. I have been a guest conductor at several schools and County Bands. As the Senior Class Adviser, it was my responsibility to ensure that students are prepared for the graduation ceremony, plan the ceremony, facilitate and organize the annual class trip. In my capacity as Yearbook Adviser, I have had the privilege to work with diverse groups of students in producing a book that will last students a lifetime. As a Track Coach I am able to share my knowledge of the sport and specific events with students for well over a decade now. This was a great experience for me as I got to interact with students on an out of school level and watch them progress and hone their athletic skills. The Student Council is a terrific group of student leaders who work tirelessly for their peers. During my time as the Adviser to the Student Council, we facilitated the annual Homecoming Festivities, Winter Ball, half day activities for students, pep rallies, blood drives, food drives and various community service events.
I hope that you can see that I pride myself on being a student centered and student driven educator with an open door.
